Our trip to the UK felt like it went by in a flash. My dad, Zack, Rowan, and I travelled from England up to Scotland and then back down again, creating memories that will last a lifetime. It was awesome to meet Zack and have him travel the entire trip with us because I now have a new brother and I always love seeing Rowan, who I have known for many years. It was such a good time, so let’s get to the highlights of my trip.
The first weekend after first arriving was spent in London. I had the opportunity to spend a day and a half with my favorite cousin, Gabriella. My dad and I met Gabriella, my aunt and uncle, and grandparents at a restaurant for dinner and we had such a laugh. I was amazed at how civil my dad was, usually he talks about God every chance he gets, but while we were with my family, he was a normal human being.
After dinner I parted ways with my dad and went home with Gabriella. The next day we went to this amazing mall called Westfield. It was so nice to have quality time with her after being apart for four months. We shopped, ate, and laughed. Amazingly though, I only bought two shirts and a new Disney mug to replace the one that recently experienced a tragic crash.
My dad picked me up after my day with Gabriella, it was heartbreaking to leave her so soon, and drove back to Bracknell.
I love going to Bracknell because we stay with a couple that is part of my extended family, since my dad has known them since he was a teen. Their house is also located near Windsor Castle and Hampton Court so it’s an awesome place to be if you’re a history buff, which I totally am.
I love traveling around and meeting new people! My favorite place from this trip would probably be Birmingham, England. My dad, Zack, Rowan, and I spent a week there and the people became family. Most of the people that we met there were Jamaican and they were so warm and welcoming. From my experience, I’ve found that most Jamaican or black people in general are the best huggers!
My time in Scotland wasn’t the best time, as you could tell from my last post, but there were parts that I will remember fondly. For instance, my grandma got the whole family together for a dinner and after dinner my aunt had an announcement. That announcement was that, SHE’S PREGNANT!!! I was over the moon at the news because they have had a hard time getting pregnant for five years.
The other fun part of our time in Scotland was when Zack and I would go on a walk. Zack is ex-navy so I was very thankful that he stayed at my pace so we could hang out. Zack is one of the tallest people I think I’ve met, but he’s also the sweetest. When I first met him, which was at the beginning of the trip, he was quite reserved, but that all changed after day two. I think because I have such a big personality he wasn’t allowed to stay in his shell for long. Throughout the trip, we talked nonstop and if we weren’t talking, we were texting each other. I am very thankful that I met him because I now have someone who has decided that they want to be my big brother and that makes me very happy.
To me family is very important and I always want to take time for them, so I was very excited when my dad said that we could spend a day with my Nana and Papa. Zack and Rowan didn’t come with us because it would’ve overwhelmed my nana, and if I’m being honest, I loved having quality time with just them.
My papa and I spent most of the afternoon doing archery in his small yard. It was so much fun, but also nerve-wracking, because if I made one wrong calculation, the arrow could end up going through a neighbor’s window. Thankfully, that didn’t happen. When we finished shooting arrows, I had a massive bruise on my arm. The bruise, to me, was a trophy and throughout the trip I took pictures of it changing colors.
My Papa, Dad, and I also went to see the movie Furious 7 together. My nana, unfortunately, couldn’t go because their dog has diabetes and has to be fed at a certain time. But, man, what a movie!! The stunts were incredible and I was on the edge of my seat for the most of it. The end of the film was really emotional, so naturally, I cried. To my surprise, my dad cried too!
The other highlight was of course seeing Kyle. Even though it was a short time, I was really happy that we got to reconnect. I’m excited to see him again hopefully in the near future.
The UK has a place in my heart so it was really hard to say goodbye to everyone and fly home. It is nice to be home though because now I can catch up on my sleep, which happened last night when I slept for fourteen hours! It’s also nice to help out with the vet again. This morning she just received a newborn bunny so I can’t wait to go meet it.
As I travel around the world I find that pieces of my heart are left with those I meet or the places I visit. A huge part of my heart is in the UK and I can’t wait to go back and fill my heart with more happiness.
