This week, I spent the weekdays at Taylor’s parent's house. Mrs.Curtis and the little kids left to go to South Carolina and they asked if I could go stay with Taylor’s parents since they have a rule about their boys being alone with girls. I was fine with it though I wished I could’ve stayed where I was.
Taylor’s parent’s, the Garcia’s, were extremely hospitable and were lovely to spend time with. I think this was actually my first time spending loads of time with them since Taylor and I would just go to her room as soon as I arrived at her house when we were younger. It was nice to hear what they had been up to and what was going on in their lives. I think they also enjoyed getting to know me more.
In the day, the Garcia’s would work so I had the house to myself. I had the chiropractor on Tuesday and Thursday so I was able to get out the house during those days. On Tuesday, after the chiropractor, I went to the mall to do some shopping and also browsed around GoodWill. Thursday, I did the same thing. Altogether I think I bought 16 shirts for a really good price. hehe
The days I didn’t go out, I relaxed at the house and enjoyed the company of the cats and dog. I’ve known Abby, their dog, most of her life. It was really sad to see how old and slow she’d gotten but she hadn’t changed a bit.
When I returned to the Curtis’ house on Friday afternoon, it felt so good to be back! I felt like I was home again. As soon as the boys arrived home we started talking and didn’t stop until I went back to my cabin to unpack.
Also upon my arrival, I had all these packages waiting for me. One box contained my new Bluetooth speaker (which is amazing), silver LG Tone headphones (also amazing), and an iPhone charger. The other box had my new glass water bottle and my gift to Mrs.Curtis (monkey-picked oolong tea leaves). It was exciting to open the boxes and try all my goodies!
Friday evening, the whole family got together. Zac’s friend, Josh, and Sophia also joined us. After dinner, the boys set up their Xboxes and screens so we could all play Call of Duty: Black Ops, hehe. I had played before but was really bad; however, with some coaching from Josh, my coordination and shooting got considerable better and I was killing more than I was dying!
By 1am, I was knackered and ready to go to bed. I couldn’t believe the time when Josh told me. I think we played COD for 4-5 hours!! It’s a very addictive game.
As this next week rolls in, I’m looking forward to hopefully starting to help Mr.Curits with some office work. It’ll be nice to have something to do in the day though I have plenty to read after Mrs.Garcia gave me a grammar book to read.
God has been good this week. He's always watching out for me and makes sure there's a roof over my head and money in the bank to fill my car up with gas. I remind myself every morning how faithful my God is and get excited for what the day is going to bring.
Every day I feel like I’m getting my faith back and it’s a really nice feeling. I’ve missed being able to read the Bible or being encouraged by a devotional that I read in the mornings. I do need to start spending more time in the Word and in His presence but this week has been crammed with people.
Psalm 103:2-5, “Bless YHVH, O my being, And do not forget all His dealings, Who forgives all your crookednesses, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with loving-commitment and compassion, Who satisfies your desire with the good, Your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
