When Tuesday morning came, I got ready to go meet these two girls, named Hannah and Silja. I ended up driving them to a cafe instead of my house since there is loud construction currently going on next door. Almost as soon as we sat down, we started talking right away and got to know each other.
Hearing their stories and seeing their hearts was really inspiring. Hannah and Silja are true disciples of Yeshua! They spend their lives traveling all around Europe and Israel spreading the Good News of the Messiah to literally everyone they come into contact with. At one point, when I came back from the bathroom, I found them evangelizing to our waitress, who was on her lunch break.
I think our meeting was a real divine appointment. I’m really glad I went, not only to do something out of the box for myself but to have fellowship with believers. It’s not everyday girls close to my age come to Israel and have a real heart after God, so this was a real treat.
Once I got home, I collapsed onto my bed and couldn’t move for a couple of hours. I’ve still been battling this migraine for almost three weeks now, so four hours of talking really sucked the energy out of me. The migraine seems to be decreasing, but very slowly. I’m just thankful for the ability to do a little extra each day.
This last week I’ve been out of the house almost every day since the noise from the construction has been driving me and my mom insane. Monday, my parents and I filmed a large group of tourists picking up trash in Tiberias; Tuesday was my meeting with Hannah and Silja; Wednesday my mom, nan, Royal, and I took a road trip to a chocolate factory in the Golan Heights; Thursday I did some errands for my mom; Friday I babysat eight kids for a couple hours; and Saturday was a rest day.
Monday was a really great day. It was the first time I was really getting out of the house since I went down with this migraine. Though it was a rush to get to the site and set up before everyone arrived, we did everything in perfect timing. The Beautiful Land Initiative, an awesome organization that’s vision is to clean up the trash around Israel, set the entire event up and almost one hundred people turned up to help! Some of the volunteers were from Denmark, while there was also a whole group from Liberty University in America.
Since Purim had been the day before, I went to the cleanup in my bunny onesie, most of the students from Liberty also dressed up in a variety of different characters. It was a lot of fun and I was very comfortable! hehe.
It was a great afternoon and I’m very happy I was able to be a part of it. For two hours I felt headache-free, which was a blessing in itself. If any of you come to Israel, check The Beautiful Land Initiative’s schedule to see if you can be a part of a cleanup, it’s truly an inspiring experience.
Wednesday was a goofy day. My mom and I had been wanting to go to this certain chocolate factory since Jeremy’s mom told us that they had the best hot chocolate around. So, after suffering from hours of torturous noise from the construction, we called my nan up to see if she and Royal wanted to go on a mini road trip.
The drive was about an hour long but it was very pleasant. Royal marveled at the view while my mom played tour guide. We talked the whole way up to the factory and once we arrived we were not disappointed.
I’d heard that Royal was a chocoholic but I didn’t know the extent of it. While the three of us were content with just one chocolate submarine (warm milk with two melted sticks of chocolate), Royal settled for two! We also all shared the factory’s specialty hot chocolate, but it was far too chocolatey for even Royal. I also had a very lovely chocolate that had a whiskey filling (yummy).
Thursday showed me how much I love to drive alone. It was so nice to let my hair down and play all the songs I wanted to, singing at the top of my lungs. It was also really nice to get out the house. The construction had woken me up extra early and I would’ve gone mad if I stayed at the house any longer.
That night, I went to bed at 8 o’clock and slept twelve hours! I did wake up at midnight and couldn’t get back to sleep until one, but I made that time up. During my hour of restlessness, at least five planes flew above my house and scared the living daylights out of me! I literally braced myself in case a bomb was going to be dropped onto my house, I felt like I was in the middle of a war zone. Thankfully, the planes went away after a couple of minutes, probably heading to Syria.
Friday seemed to be a chaotic day. No one told me what was going on so I was left alone for most of it and then when my parents did come home, they had two other people with them who were going to be staying for the weekend. My mind couldn’t process all this information in the time it needed to, so I went into a panic and had to leave the house as quickly as possible.
At the same time, my grandparents were at the date shop across the road so I joined them. It was nice to be back in the shop where I used to work. Everyone is so friendly and it’s like a second home. My old boss even offered me my old job back since they are really low in staff.
In the evening, I babysat eight kids! Their ages ranged from 12 months to thirteen. It was definitely a challenge but I don’t think I did too bad. I’m so thankful Emma was there to help me because I couldn’t have looked after the baby while playing with the toddlers.
Shabbat seriously couldn’t come quicker for me, this week. When I got home after babysitting I just wanted to go to chill. It was so nice to just relax on the couch and talk to our guests. I love it when we have people staying at our house and they’re very easygoing and low management, it really does make life easier.
Well, this week is the week! I will officially find out if I am exempt from the army or forced to go in. Please keep me in prayer as I go to the army office early tomorrow morning and stand before the medical committee. I’m not really good when it comes to standing in front of people and stating my case, so please pray that the right words come out.
It’s been a very busy week this week, but I think this coming week is going to be even busier. My grandparent's friends are here for one more week and there are a couple places we want to take them to before they leave. Hopefully, the weather will be really nice and clear so I can also take some videos and pictures for my dad’s ministry.
