Waiting for a book to come out can seem like forever, especially if it’s a book you can’t wait to read. I have been waiting over two months for The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West to be released, and I was not disappointed when it did.
The Fill-In Boyfriend is about a popular high school girl named Gia. For months she had been telling her friends all about her college boyfriend, but when he dumps her in the parking lot of her prom, Gia has to think fast and find a boy who will pretend to be her ex, Bradley, so her friends won't think that she had been making him up the entire time.
Just when Gia thinks she’s out of luck, she notices a cute boy sitting in his car after dropping his sister off at the prom. She goes over and begs him to pretend to be her ex. To her surprise, the mystery boy accepts and walks into the prom as her fill-in Bradley.
Days later, Gia isn’t thinking about the real Bradley, instead she’s thinking about the Fill-In Bradley. Unfortunately, Gia doesn’t even know his name, so she has no way to start her search for him. It’s only when Fill-in Bradley’s sister comes to collect the favor Gia owes her brother that she see’s him again. Will Gia be able to turn her fake boyfriend into a real one? And what’s going to happen when all these lies catch up to her?
This book is filled with laughter, romance, sadness, coming of age lessons, and happiness. It is such a great teen book that I think lots of teens in the century should read it. The messages that are contained in this book are solid and should be taught to teen girls around the world. If you’re a teen and haven’t read this book, then you really should.
