For the last year, my family and I have been going through quite a few trials. Every step of the way, we didn’t cease to pray or trust in Him! Throughout these trials, He always provided for our needs and showed up what we are to be doing. One night this week, after my dad had sent out an email for prayer, we received all the money we needed! Not only did we get the provision we needed, but my dad was also offered a massive opportunity! Everything seems to be coming together though the battles are far from over. It just shows that whatever we're doing, if we're in His will, He will provide!
As I was finally getting through reading The Book Thief, this week, I was excited to tell mom that I had just over a hundred pages left and had read over fifty that day. Instead of replying, "Well done, dear!" She said, "It's all just numbers! You're always counting. Are you even focused on the story?" This statement really made me think. Was I really just trudging through and looking at how many chapters or pages I was reading, rather than enjoying the adventure the book was taking me on?
That evening God spoke to me and said, "Stop looking at how many pages you've read or have left, and take in the adventure you just experienced." This applied to not only The Book Thief but also the Bible since I was doing the same thing to both. I’ve programmed my brain to want to get through as many pages I can in order to achieve my goal of finishing a book a week and reading the Bible in a whole year, but this isn’t necessarily a positive thing. God showed me that because I was too engrossed in the numbers, I was taking His gift of words for granted!
This coming week I'm really going to try to stop looking at the number of pages, chapters, and even the time so I can enjoy what I'm reading. I have so many awesome stories in my grasp but I'm not truly experiencing them because I'm too wrapped up in the numbers, this, however, is going to change!
Now, time for me to tell you the hospital saga. Late on Thursday night, my mom received a call from my papa. He was panicking because my nan had fallen into the bath and there was blood everywhere. So, Mom and I gathered all the supplies we thought we'd need and headed to their house.
When we arrived, we found my nan in tears in the bathroom and a band-aid on her head. My poor papa didn’t know what to do so he just stuck a band-aid on her head, thinking that would stop the bleeding. I think taking the band-aid off my nan's head was more painful than the injury itself.
Once we’d seen that there was a deep, small, hole in my nan’s head, we decided it was best to take her to the hospital. So, we proceeded to get my nan dressed and piled everyone into the car. However, we didn’t go straight to the hospital. Instead, we made our way into town to go to a place called Magan David, which is where the first responders are.
I’m so happy we went there first because the doctor gave us a piece of paper giving permission for my nan to go to the hospital. This paper meant that we wouldn’t have to pay a fortune for the hospital visit! Unfortunately, however, my nan also received a tetanus shot that we’re praying won’t have any adverse effects since she had just gotten all the vaccines and bacterias out of her system with a detox!
From the Magan David, we drove to the hospital. Thankfully, we were only at the hospital for an hour and a half. My nan’s doctor was also very nice! He even let me assist him when he was gluing my nan’s wound together.
My nan is a real trouper! She could’ve felt sorry for herself and said, “Woe is me,” but she didn’t. Instead, we were all laughing at the look of her once the doctor at Magan David put a bandage around her head. She looked a right state with no teeth in and her hair sticking in the air! HAHA.
My papa also did great! Though he was panicked at the beginning, he did calm down and laughed with everyone. We're such a strange family. :P
This Shabbat was definitely needed! It felt so good to relax and stop for a couple hours! As I write this blog, I’m listening to Elevation Worship and feeling at complete peace. God is so good!
The last thing I would like to say this week is a request. Please keep me in your prayers as I'm going to another army appointment, this Monday. Pray that I have the wisdom to say the right words and not be nervous, as this will also be the first time I'm going to be discussing my health without my parents. Their presence always calmed me, so I'm really going to have to rely on God for this meeting!
Luke 21:15, "For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict."
