It all starts when I tell myself that I am going to do a certain activity to help me get into shape. One time I told myself that I would start swimming every other day in addition to walking my dog 2 miles every afternoon. I would swim for a week and feel great, but then obstacles would come up and get in the way of me meeting my goal. Sometimes I will get into work later than usual so I won’t have time to swim. Yes, there is a swimming pool at the place I do my schoolwork (be jealous :P). The next week is maybe a personal, girlie reason, and that’s enough about that! And then by the third week I just couldn’t be bothered to swim because I was burnt out from staying up the night before.
Sometimes we need enough willpower to be able to press forward and succeed in the goals we set ourselves. I believe that maybe the obstacles are put in our way to test us. Will we carry on in our journey to get fit? Or will we give up after being unable to swim one or two of the days we had set.
I think we should all take it in our stride and continue to reach our goals even if there are obstacles. I have decided that instead of walking my dog, Joey, 2 miles, that I would run some of the way. That way we both can burn some extra calories and get our neglected muscles working. My goal is to be able to run up the huge hill that is in my village without stopping. This is going to be hard but I think with a lot of willpower and commitment that I will be able to do it.
I encourage everyone, wether they have made life goals or get fit goals, that you all persevere and continue until you have reached the finish line. When someone else looks at your life do you want to be known as the girl or guy who can’t finish what they’ve started? Or do you want to be winners? Take this challenge this week and strive towards the finish line. We all have the power to complete the race, we just need encouragement and a sound mind to do it. I hope each one of you have a great week and are able to start your journeys to the finish line.
