For me, that moment was when my parents left me in charge of the house and flew to Germany. This was the first time they’ve ever left me alone for more that a day! Even when they did leave me, someone always stayed at the house to keep me company. This time, however, I have the place entirely to myself!
I’m not gonna lie, at the beginning I was really nervous about looking after our spacious house alone, but as the first day ended, I knew I that this was going to be a blast. Yes, taking care of this house all by myself is very difficult and takes a lot of work, but at the end of the day, it’s totally worth it!
Living in an empty house has had its perks. I can play music as loud as I want, watch the movie of my choice, have peace and tranquility, and only need to make a small amount of food. Of course, advantages always come with disadvantages, which are; not having my parents to talk to when I come home from school, being in a dark house alone, and having to do ALL the chores by yourself.
All that being said, I have thoroughly enjoyed this week! It was very tiring trying to juggle school, work, and house chores, but when the weekend came, it was lovely. I wish Shabbat was every day!
On Friday, Izzy and Nathan came over! I was so excited that they had arrived that I forgot to hug Nathan once he had gotten out of the car (whoops)! From the minute they arrived, we started talking and having a blast. We went swimming, created a fantastic soup, and chilled.
It was so nice to be with my friends again. I hadn’t seen them in over three weeks and was definitely getting withdrawals. Hosting was also very fun. It’s weird to think that I’m the “Lady of the House” at the moment, but it’s something I could definitely get used to.
Shabbat was the best day of this week. Waking up after 7 was wonderful, making breakfast at ease was stress-free, and being able to stop was incredible. I’ve barely stopped all week, so Shabbat came at the perfect time.
Izzy, Nathan and I spent the afternoon outside. We sunbathed, ate, swam, and, of course, talked. Being able to talk about God along with other things was also an amazing part of the day. Since it was Shabbat, I was nervous that I wouldn’t be able to spend time with YHVH since I was hosting, but we ending up sharing testimonies with one another and read some Psalms. It was really relaxing.
The theme of our Godly conversations were centered on trusting in Him. I think is the theme of this season. As trials come our way, we need to remember that we can do NOTHING without His help and hand on the situation. The best thing to do is stop and really ask Him what the next step should be.
This was definitely a message I needed to hear as I know there are more trials coming my way. In exactly a month, I’m going to be flying to the States. I already know that something is awaiting me there, I just pray that I’ll be able to handle it with grace and godliness.
Of course, after spending three hours in the sun, without sunscreen, there’s going to be consequences. For me, that entailed my whole body being the color of a red rose. I even have the shape of my bikini bow marked on my back! :P
After being outside most of the day, we finally came inside to make food and snacks before sitting down to watch movies. The first movie we watched was The Longest Ride. I totally forgot how emotion it was and was quite unprepared for the ending.
In my opinion, The Longest Ride is the best Nicholas Spark story and movie to ever be released. The characters are amazing, the story revolves around two different couples separated by time, the theme and moral of the story is great, and the romance is amazing. There is, of course, some language and nudity, but the overall story is the best Nicholas Sparks has ever written!
The second movie we watched was Big Hero 6. I was apprehensive about watching this movie because I figured it was going to be a kid’s animation, but I was very wrong. That movie has been very underrated! I laughed the whole way through. If we hadn’t stopped for a bathroom break, I’m sure I would’ve wet myself! If you haven’t seen it, I HIGHLY recommend you see this film!
When the movie ended, I was sad because I knew that it was time for Izzy and Nathan to drive home to Netanya. But, to my pleasure, it was passed 9 o’clock and they couldn’t fathom the idea of having to drive the two hours to get home, so they stayed an extra night! I was so excited! Another night with Izzy and Nathan was heaven to me.
In the morning, it felt really natural to have them there as I got ready for school. We were able to enjoy each other’s company before the dreaded goodbye happened. I didn’t want them to leave. It would’ve been great to come home and have them still be there to hang out.
But alas, not everything happens how I would like. When the clock struck 8:30, I was forced to say farewell as I was running late for Ulpan. This weekend was one of the best I’ve had in a while and definitely want it to happen again soon. Maybe next time I’ll go to Netanya for the weekend. ;)
As this new week begins, I look forward to my parents coming home, and the next adventure that’s waiting for me right around the corner. God has been doing some great things this last week, so I can’t wait to see what He’s going to do this week!
Last week, I had one day where I continually heard the Spirit’s voice, but I didn’t know if it was really Him at the time. The first time I heard His voice was when I was at school. I was wondering what the best thing for my friend Marine would be for her spider bite when I heard the word teabag, which was perfect because I was drinking green tea and that helps in inflammation. The next time He spoke was in the afternoon I heard when He said, “Remember your ID,” which I ended up needing at work to sign some documents. The last thing I heard the Spirit was when He reminded me to take my jacket to the restaurant, which I was very grateful for because the place was freezing.
Looking back, I can’t get over how clearly I heard His voice. It truly amazes me that YHVH cares for me so much that He’ll remind me about the small things, like my jacket and ID. He really does look out for us! The only problem with hearing His clear voice, however, is that it's like a drug and I just want to hear it again and again. I never want to stop hearing His voice! I pray that this week, I’ll hear Him again and respond correctly. I already ignored His voice this morning when He reminded me to check that my driver’s license was in my bag (which is wasn’t).
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you.” Psalm 32:8-9
“My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.” Proverbs 2:1-5
