This morning my dad and I went around the village practicing for my driving lesson and test. We found a big dirt parking lot, which was unoccupied, and practiced my reversing. I was all nervous because I didn’t think I was ready for my test as I kept messing up when reversing into a parking space. By the end of the thirty minutes of driving in reverse, however, I was able to understand the sensation and directions the car took in reverse and started to feel more sure of myself.
When it came time for the lesson, I was much better then I was last week, but still not good enough. There were a couple of moments where I was only watching one thing happening and almost ran someone over and drove passed a car pulling out. This made me really nervous for my test, but I prayed and asked God to give me the wisdom and patience I need to succeed.
When the tester got into the car I got really nervous because he was someone I hadn’t had before. Turns out, he was a really nice tester and he was even on his phone a lot of the time. Throughout the thirty minutes we were in the car together, I did the correct maneuvers and made sure to be checking my mirrors and watching out for anyone around me. By the end of the test I told my tester what a comfortable person he is to drive with, which I think gave me extra points.
At the time, I thought I did rather well, but I still had my doubts and tried to find a place where I messed up. In the country I live in, you don’t find out if you’ve passed straight away, so I had to wait over five hours to get my results! I was a nervous wreck the entire day. My parents, however, were all happy and waiting to hear good news. It was annoying though, because I didn’t want to disappoint them if I failed. I was also really nervous that Jem would think less of me because this was my third driving test. When I told him of my fear, he was shocked I would think such a thing and made sure I knew that he would never think less of me, not even for failing my test. This made me feel much better, so I continued keeping myself distracted by doing my school work and talking to Jem.
I was FaceTiming Jem when I got the phone call and stomach went crazy as I answered. At first, I didn’t recognize my instructor’s voice, but after he asked me how I was, I knew it was him. My response was that I would know how I felt after he told me if I passed or not. When he told me congratulations, I didn’t know if it was because I had failed for a third time or actually passed!
After confirming that I had passed, I quickly hung up and started screaming. I went crazy! I even started jumping up and down and running around the ground floor. My dad was so excited that he started to laugh, and my mom did the most embarrassing happy dance I’ve ever seen. :P It was one of the best moments ever! I still can’t believe I passed! In celebration, we went to one of my favorite restaurants for a pizza and a mouth-watering dessert, it was a great end to a perfect day! AHHHH STILL CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!!
