This week has been a very interesting week. It’s been full of all kinds of emotions. Obstacles came my way like I wrote they would. I handled some of them gracefully, while others I failed miserably.
On Tuesday, my dad and I planned to have lunch with Taylor’s parents. I was nervous the entire way there. I prayed that Taylor wouldn’t be there, but how often are my prayers answered at the moment? Sure enough, Taylor came with her parents and it was quite awkward.
Maybe it was just me, but I was uncomfortable and could feel the years between us. We’re the same people but we’ve also changed tremendously. It’s hard to think about all those years of friendship we had because it’s almost like they never happened. Who knows, maybe Taylor felt differently and wants to try to be friends again.
Most of this week I spent in my book, Revolution. When I was in bed for most of the day, the only things I was able to do were sleep and read. It felt good to just relax but it proved difficult since I was supposed to be getting my room ready for a friend to sleep in.
Friday night, we had a little party and bonfire. Zac and Luke invited their friends who were very fun people to hang out with. It was nice to chill with people my age and talk around the fire. My head was also feeling better that evening so I was able to really enjoy it.
Mrs.Curtis also invited our mutual friend Guppy to spend the night. Around 11 pm, I noticed that Guppy had gone into the cabin. She said that it was fine for us to share the room, so I told everyone goodnight and went into the cabin before she fell asleep. We hadn’t seen each other in months so there was a lot of catching up to do. I don’t think we stopped talking until 2:30 in the morning!
It was really encouraging to be with others close to my age. I’m really enjoying being in a place where I’m not always around grown ups. It’s nice to be a young adult around here.
Even though there were moments where I failed miserably, this week, I learned that when things get difficult I need to just breathe and try to think calmly. Everything that comes our way helps us grow so I'm excited to see what the next week will bring because I'm very ready to grow!
