I woke up knowing that it was the day I would be seeing Kyle for the first time in four years. I was really nervous because I didn’t know what was going to happen or what we would do once we were together. Izzy and Nathan helped calm my nerves.
Once I was calmer, my mind was still swirling with all the possibilities of what was going to happen, some of course were super far fetched, but hey, a girl can dream.
Kyle and I texted most of the day so we could know how close the other was to his house. Kyle’s plan was to leave college early so he’d be there once we arrived, but his friend didn’t know the way back to Kyle’s house. It sucked being at Kyle’s house without him, but it also calmed me down and made me feel more comfortable.
When we left Kyle’s house, we went to the house where my dad had his meeting. I thought that we would only stay three or so hours, but that was not the case. Six hours in, Kyle was texting me constantly asking where I was and sending crying faces when I would explain that I was still at the meeting. It’s so hard to be so close, yet so far away from the place that you want to be.
It wasn’t until 9:30 in the evening that we made it back to Kyle’s house. My nerves resurfaced when we pulled up, but I was ready for the reunion. I think speaking to Kyle throughout the day helped make me feel not as nervous.
I rang the doorbell, and Kyle answered. I was so shocked at his height that the first thing that came out of my mouth was not hello, but “Flipping heck, you’re tall!” There was a bit of awkwardness at the start, but as soon as Kyle’s mom came into the room, the focus was off of us and the adults started chatting.
When my dad and Kyle’s mom went into the kitchen to get a cuppa, Kyle and I went to his room so he could show me the PC he had made. On the way to his room, I slipped into his sister’s room to say a quick hello even though she was half asleep. We spoke for a minute and then I let her get back to sleep. I later found out, while I was in his sister’s room, Kyle had run into his room to tidy up the mess.
You would think it might have been awkward going into your old crush’s room, but it wasn’t. It was actually quite normal. We started playing video games, which we were both rubbish at, and started to talk. It was cute to see him get embarrassed at some things that we talked about, like old memories which came up when we were looking at old Facebook pictures.
We were together for a couple hours, and it was really nice. In that time, we sat near each other and at times our arms or fingers would touch. The small amount of touching we did felt good and will probably hold me for another two months. haha. I will admit that I did find myself looking at his lips and muscles at times, but hey what do you expect me to do after seeing just how hot he is and he was wearing a white t-shirt, which totally didn't help!
When it was time to go, he stood up and opened his arms wide, with a cute and cheeky smile on his face. I gave him a hug, but he was so tall that we had to try it again so he didn’t have to bend down so much. He wasn’t that good of a hugger, but I told him that over time I would fix it. Since no one had seen us hug, when we came downstairs and waved an awkwardly goodbye, his mom commented, “What no hug?” and then started teasing him.
All together, I am very thankful for the short amount of time we had together. I think it brought us closer and made us realize how nice it was to be together again. We’re texting each other almost everyday now and he’s always telling me to come back so we can hang out again. I love our conversations and can’t wait to go back to his house so we can hang out again.
