When someone turns six they are required to go to school and learn, but why? It’s good that everyone wears the basics, like reading, writing, and counting, but why do we have a system where we learn in school until we reach the 12th grade and then go to college to learn more. School never seems to stop!
My other question is, why do we have to learn all these various subjects that are going to be useless to us when we start a profession? I’m sure that there was no such thing as the school systems over a thousand years ago. Kids just went around with their parents to learn the craft that they were going to do for the rest of their lives.
Why can’t we just do that now? This week, I’ve just wanted to quite school because it frustrated me when the curriculum doesn't explain things clearly. It also sucks that curriculums seem to make you study the same things over and over that are going to be useless in a year or more.
If I had my way I would be going around taking pictures of the beautiful country that I live in, reading the classics that have been around for decades, researching about animal behavior, writing, and working with the vet I assist or at the small zoo that’s down the road from me.
Instead of doing all those things, I’m stuck behind a desk working on the volume of prisms. I’ve worked on one lesson for over two hours. Sure I got distracted a couple of times, but that’s because it’s boring and frustrating because I can’t draw the prism right and my printer isn’t working to help me.
I don’t like complaining nonstop, but I had to get all this off my chest. I feel bad about how frustrated I get because I take it out on the first person that comes across my path and today that was my mother. She was not pleased to come home to me shouting at her because I’m overwhelmed with how much time I’ve wasted and how ridiculous this curriculum can be.
I think I might be a perfectionist because when I can’t do something, I try for ages to get it right, and this has led me to spending two hours trying to draw a stupid shape properly. School can be so boring and time consuming. I think it would be more educational to travel around the world and learn from it directly instead of reading someone else’s words.
It’s funny, some days I hate school and then others I love it! I think it really depends on the attitude I have when I wake up. Today, for instance, I finished all my schoolwork by 11:30am and was actually upset that I had nothing else to do. I love to learn and think that school has it’s perks, it’s just when curriculums start repeating certain subjects and not explaining things clearly, that I get bored and frustrated.
