Our number one goal in life should be to seek the Lord in all that we do and to serve Him through our work. I found that I haven’t been doing that this week. I would have my devotional time in the mornings, so that I could say that I woke up and read His word before starting my day, and make a promise to really pray and seek Him in the evening, when I had more time. But, when the evening came around, I would either be too tired or too engrossed in my book to spend anymore than five to ten minutes reading the Bible. This wasn’t good, and I knew I needed to make a change.
So, instead of allowing myself become the 2015 me, I’m making it a priority to spend more time with God and less time reading all my books. Even though I’m reading Christian books, they are still distractions, no matter how incredible and faith based they are. It’s going to be difficult, but I’m up for the challenge.
What’s distracting you from seeking the Lord or reading His Word? Is it your busy schedule? Your books? Movies? TV shows? Or maybe your music? Whatever they may be, remember that whatever we put before God is an idol. Make it a goal this week, like I have, to seek Him wholeheartedly and take the time to read the Bible, because I promise that you’ll have a better week for it. There is nothing better than knowing that He is with you and guiding you throughout your day. Don’t put God on the sideline, make Him your number one!
